| Austria's Automotive Association
(ÖAMTC) is with 25 Helicopters Europe's (and
likely the world's) largest user of the EC135 type.
Five of those are operated and maintained for the Hungarian
Air Rescue, the other 20 stationed on various bases
around Austria and well known as "Christophorus"
to the population. Since 2001, the ÖAMTC had officially
taken over this important service as a contract partner
to the Federal Ministry of the Interior. Their helicopters
are EC 135 T1, T2 and T2+ variants, only the ITH (Intensive
Care Helicopter) is operated 24/7 and equipped with
Autopilot as well as a modern glass cockpit. More impressive
than technical facts was to me the amazing teamwork
displayed by the crews in and around their aircraft.
